Could you tell me about Begum Rokeya and her contribution?
Mamun : Yes. Begum Rokeya was a famous
writer, a social worker, feminist
and pioneer of women’s liberation
movement. She is most famous for her efforts on behalf of gender
equality and other social issues.
Her ultimate goal was that women, and particularly Muslim women, would
reach their fullest potentials as human beings.
Myself :
I see. What about Helen Keller?
Mamun :
Helen Keller was an American author,
political activist and lecturer. She was the first deaf blind person to
graduate from college. She campaigned for women's suffrage, labor rights,
socialism, and other radical left causes.
Myself : And Florence Nightingale?
Mamun :
Florence Nightingale laid the foundation of modern nursing. She made
outstanding contribution to public health. Through her hard work she changed
the standards of medical care and nursing forever. She is popularly known as
‘The Lady with the Lamp’.
Myself : Oh, I was completely in the dark about
their contribution.
Mamun
: Hmm. actually they were
the great women. Their contribution will never be forgotten. They will be in
our mind all the time.
