A book Fair

A fair where several stalls are set up for a particular time in order to display books for publicity is called a book fair. The main purpose of a book fair is not merely sale rather to offer a rare opportunity to assess the advancement made in the publication of books. The book fairs are frequently held in towns and cities now. Nowadays it has become very popular.  In our country the largest book fair is held on the premises of Bangla Academy on the occasion of 21^st February.

It is called Ekusher Boi Mela which lasts for a month. A book fair may last for a week or even a month. Hundreds of publishers participate in it. Different types of books are sold here. Books of drama, fiction, story, noble etc. are sold here. The stalls are decorated beautifully and gorgeously. A large number of children, male and female customers gather in a book fair. It becomes crowded specially in the evening. It helps to create new writers as well as new readers. It also inspires people to instigate the habit of reading books. A book fair reminds us that books are our best companions. They change our outlook on life and widen our horizon of knowledge. However, a book fair is a source of knowledge and pleasure. It broadens our mind. It is a part and parcel of our national life.
