My Visit to a Place of Historical Interest
A place of historical interest indicates the testimony of the ancient heritage and cultural identity of a country. After the test examination, a study tour in Bagerhat was arranged by our school. It was an ample opportunity for me to visit Bagerhat, a place of historical interest. While visiting the place, the name that comes first to our mind is Khan Jahan Ali due to his doing various philanthropic activities.
A famous
saint, Khan Jahan Ali laid the construction of a Muslim colony in Bagerhat
district during the reign of Sultan Nasiruddin Mohammad Shah. That time he
adorned his city with numerous mosques, tanks, roads, and buildings. The most
note-worthy and spectacular of which is the imposing multi-domed mosque in
There is a lake-like tank by the side of the Satgambuz. Its length is more than double of its breadth. It is said that before digging it, a horse was made to run a race. It ran straight and stood covering a certain distance. That distance was accepted as the length of the Digihi. That is why the Dighi was named Ghorha Dighi. This Dighi has its own crocodiles.
The mazar of
Khan Jahan Ali stands on a raised ground. The tomb is made of cut out stones.

There is a big tank in front of the mazar of Khan Jahan Ali. There are some crocodiles in the tank. The vast sweet-water tank is surrounded with sea coast landscape.
