                          Ways of answering graph and chart

 *There are three basic things you need to structure.

·       i.  Introduce the graph

·       ii.  Give an overview

·       iii. Give the detail

     Mention all the major features of the statistics or charts

     * Make sure you describe the statistics accurately

     * Avoid repeating the same words and phrases and try to vary the sentence structures

     * Give an overview of the most important trends or patterns

 Useful introductory expressions:

ü The graph shows / indicates / depicts / illustrates/reveals/represents …

ü From the graph it is clear…

ü It is clear from the graph/table...

ü As the graph/table shows...

ü It can be seen from the graph…

ü As can be seen from the graph...

ü As is shown / illustrated by the graph...

Example: The graph shows the percentage of children using supplements in a place over a year.

 Useful time expressions:

ü Over the next... / for the following... (for the following two months... over the next six months...)

ü From ... to / between ... and (from June to August... between June and August...)

ü During (during the first three months...)

 Write answer according to a plan:

# Write one sentence to introduce the subject and graphic.

# Write one or two sentences to show the relationship between the data or to comment on the main trend. 

# Write an in-depth description of the information given. Include details from the most important to the least important, depending on time.

#Write one sentence to conclude your answer.

 What not to write:

Only describe the data. Don not give your interpretation of it.

*এনসিটিবি কর্তৃক প্রণীত পাঠ্যপুস্তক ও সম্পূরক পঠন সামগ্রী পড়ার অভ্যাস গড়ে তোলা।

*নতুনকে গ্রহণ করার উপযুক্ত মানসিকতা বজায় রাখার চেষ্টা করা।

*সরকার প্রদত্ত শিখন সামগ্রী যথাসময়ে সংগ্রহ করা।

* শ্রেণিকক্ষে এবং শ্রেণিকক্ষের বাইরে একটিভ বেইজড লার্নিং কার্যক্রমে স্বতঃস্ফূর্তভাবে অংশগ্রহণ করা।

* অ্যাসাইনমেন্ট এবং পাঠ্যপুস্তকের দেওয়া প্রদত্ত কাজগুলো যথা সময় শেষ করা ।

* বিদ্যালয় শিক্ষা সংশ্লিষ্ট বিভিন্ন সমস্যা নিয়ে শ্রেণি শিক্ষকের সঙ্গে আলাপ করা। অবসর সময়ে সৃজনশীল বই পড়ার অভ্যাস গড়ে তোলা।

*শিখন সংশ্লিষ্ট যেকোনো বিষয় নিয়ে অভিভাবকের (মা/বাবা) সঙ্গে কথা বলে পরামর্শ গ্রহণ করা।

*নিজের বুদ্ধিমত্তা দিয়ে শিখনের সর্বক্ষেত্রে অংশগ্রহণ করা।

* দলগত কাজে সহপাঠীদের মূল্যায়নে নিরপেক্ষতা, সততা এবং নৈতিকতা বজায় রাখা।

*স্কুলে শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্য গঠিত ক্লাবে নিজেকে সম্পৃক্ত করা।

অভিভাবকদের করণীয়:

*সন্তানদের নিজের এবং বাড়ির ছোট ছোট কাজগুলো করানোর বিষয়ে উৎসাহ দেওয়া।

*সন্তানদের সময় দেওয়া, তাদের গতিবিধি লক্ষ্য করা। 

* সন্তানদের কথা শোনা এবং তারা কোন সমস্যার মুখোমুখি হলে তা সমাধান করার কার্যকর পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণ করা। 

*সন্তানদের  ভালো কাজে উৎসাহ দেওয়া এবং ভুল/অপ্রয়োজনীয় কাজকে নিরুৎসাহিত করা।

*কারিকুলাম বিস্তরণে অভিভাবকদের যে দায়িত্ব তা সঠিকভাবে পালন করা।

*সন্তানদের  বিদ্যালয়ে নিয়মিত উপস্থিতি নিশ্চিত করা। 

* সন্তানদের মূল্যায়নের বিষয়ে নিরপেক্ষতা, সততা এবং নৈতিকতা বজায় রাখা।

*শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান কর্তৃক আয়োজিত মতবিনিময় সভায় উপস্থিত থাকা এবং গঠনমূলক পরামর্শ প্রদান করা।

Today I will introduce one of my favorite students. His name is Yeasa Ashaz. He is 15 years old studying in America. He was a student of BF Shaheen School before moving to America. During his schooling, he was an average student and weak in English. But after 3 years in America he has become very fluent and almost has an American accent while speaking. It really surprised me a lot. In Bangladesh we have compulsory English study for 12 years but still students struggle to speak and write English correctly. After 12 years of learning most students are very weak in speaking, reading, writing and listening. Here we discuss his likes and dislikes about Bangladeshi Education system & how he became fluent and what his advice is for our Bangladeshi students to be good at English.

 A Journey by Train

Life is a continuous journey. Everyone has a fascination for a making journey.  It is a source of immense pleasure. I am very much fond of journey but I always remain very busy with my study. So it is not usually possible for me to go to visit my kith and kin. I  feel suffocated very often. One day I decided to go to visit my aunt who lives in a remote village. The only communication that is available today is the railway. So, I alone ventured to go to visit my aunt.

I was very much excited since I was going to enjoy my first journey by train. On the scheduled day I arrived at Airport Railway Station at 7.30 am. Then I collected my ticket for Kulaura and got into the train at 8.00 am. I was lucky to get a good seat near the window. At last, the guard blew the whistle and the train moved slowly and pulled out of the station. I felt thrilled at that very moment and I enjoyed the jerky movement and the new experience. After an hour, the train entered the rural areas and was running through the green fields. Everything seemed to me dream-like.

There were friendly passengers all around and soon I started talking and joking with them. The scenery outside was interesting and varied. Trees, bushes, paddy-fields and farmers' huts flashed past us and we were greeted by village children waving and smiling at us happily.

Truly speaking, I got very much tired of the continuous studies. The trip gave me such a pleasure which I desired for a long time. I enjoyed mid jerking of the train and rhythmic sound of the wheels. Our train crossed a big train bridge near Voirob. As it was an express train, it stopped only at a few stations on its way. At noon when the train entered greater Shylet, I felt a great joy seeing the hills on either side of the line as I had never seen a hill before.

 After five hours journey, the train jerked to a complete stop at Kulaura railway station. I got down from the train and went to my aunt’s house by richshaw. It had been a very pleasant journey. This reminiscence will be ever memorable in my life.

            worthy construction of Khan Jahan Ali.

Abid   : Could you please explain the uniqueness of the mosque?

Rafi     : Certainly. It stands on sixty pillars with 77 domes which presents a magnificent

            view. The interior western wall of the mosque was beautifully decorated with

            terracotta flowers and foliage.

Abid   : I see! How much did you enjoy your visit?

Rafi     : No doubt, visiting the place opened my mental horizon. I had a new outlook

            and an insight into our ancient heritage. The experience of this tour will be ever

           memorable.
